Wachs Utility Services is 100% focused on distribution system
services that improve system operability and capture critical
system information. We have integrated our services in ways
to maximize the efficiency of a program and ultimately save
the utility money. Many utilities compartmentalize operations
and maintenance activities into different crews and departments.
Wachs integration approach is to maximize every asset visit
and complete as much work as possible per visit. Maximizing
each asset visit eliminates a large percentage of work orders
for the utility, saving money and dramatically increasing the
operability of the system.
Integration example #1:
An example of Wachs’ integration
approach is in our valve exercising programs. A typical initial
asset visit will include most of the following activities:
locate, clean out, inspection, exercising, lid replacement,
raise to grade, box alignment, GPS mapping and capture of asset
attribute data. Once operable, the asset does not require a
second visit and that saves the utility money.
Integration example #2:
Other integration is realized by
synergy of services. For example, Wachs is the leading provider
of fire hydrant unidirectional flushing (UDF) programs. Most
UDF programs fail due to inoperable valves. Wachs has the experience
and resources to address system valves in advance of a UDF
program to ensure that the flushing sequences are executable
and the unidirectional flushing program succeeds.
